If you guys follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen my many teaser pictures of beautiful beautiful rainbow yarn! Oh, it was so squishy and so pretty to take pictures of!! Well, this beautiful yarn was destined for a very special person who isn’t quite born yet! Eeeek squishy babies!! Love squishy babies!! And last weekend I finally got to give mummy the blanket. I hope she loves it, I thought it would go lovely in their jungle-themed nursery!
Now the size of this blanket is quite awkward because I found it very difficult to judge how wide to make it. I decided on 40 inches for a nice little blanket that could be used from birth. Unfortunately, things don’t always go to plan as I finished the rainbow and the blanket was teeny tiny. We can’t be having that, it’s barely a facecloth….
So I doubled up the rainbow; I decided to reflect the rainbow pattern so I went back through all the colours in reverse. it worked out super pretty! I love it! But I do think I should have started with a wider blanket, to begin with. But, you live and learn.
If you would like to make a lovely rainbow baby blanket, maybe for a rainbow themed nursery or a rainbow baby then you can follow this pattern by Daisy Cottage Designs. One note I would make would be to crochet only in the back loop when changing colours to give a lovely ridge, I talk about this is more detail in my Starfish blanket post so check that out if you want to give it a go.
Not only did I have loads of fun making this blanket, but I had a whale of a time taking pictures of it! For more blanket ideas check out my Pinterest!
